Code of Conduct

By registering at Pro±Con and receiving a badge, you agree to abide by all policies set forth in this Code of Conduct and by the College of Charleston. Pro±Con reserves the right to refuse entrance into the convention to any individual or group at any time.

General Policies

  • Please comply with the requests of all Pro±Con staff/volunteers, Stern Student Center employees, and CofC Public Safety officers.
  • Please have your Pro±Con badge openly displayed on your person at all times while in any of the convention spaces.
  • Don’t vandalize the Stern Student Center. Anyone caught vandalizing the building will be given to the custody of the CofC Department of Public Safety and will be charged for repairs/cleanup
  • No live animals are allowed in the building except for service animals.
  • Attendees 12 and under must have an accompanying chaperone who is 18 or older.
  • Disruptive behavior such as running, hollering, mock combat, etc. is prohibited.
  • No soliciting. This includes signs asking for hugs, candy, petition signatures, and things of that nature.
  • Please place all trash/recycling in the correct receptacles.
  • Pro±Con is not responsible for property lost, damaged, or stolen due to negligence or the actions of other attendees.
  • Lost and found is at the registration table. Any items not claimed by 10PM will be turned into the College.
  • If you have an emergency, please notify the nearest staff member, volunteer, Stern Student Center employee, or CofC Public Safety officer immediately.

Cosplay Policies:

  • Shoes must be worn at all times
  • Masks may only be worn inside the Stern Student Center
  •  The wear or use roller skates/ blades, skateboards, and stilts is prohibited
  • Nudity is not a costume. Minimum coverage (modest bathing suit) is required.

Weapons Policy:

Bladed weapons:

  • No Metal bladed weapons of any kind (swords, knives, axes, etc.)

Projectile launching weapons (except firearms):

  • You may possess projectile launching weapons (except firearms) if they have been disabled:
    • Bows, crossbows, etc, must be destrung
    • Airsoft, BB, Nerf, blow, and Paintball guns, etc:
      • Must have an orange tip on the muzzle
      • Must have an orange stripe, at least one inch wide, on all of following applicable parts: grip, barrel, receiver, stock.
  • You may not carry any ammunition
  • No magazine may be loaded in the weapon
  • The barrel must be plugged
  • The trigger must be disabled

Firearms:

  • You may not possess any firearms or device capable of delivering a projectile with a(n) chemical reaction, explosive,  pressurized gas, or electromagnetic force, disabled or otherwise. (Pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles, machine guns, zip guns, rail guns, mass drivers etc.)

Directed Energy Weapons (DEWs):

  • You may not possess weapons capable of causing harm by means of electromagnetic energy or charged particles (lasers, microwaves, particle beams, etc.)

Items designed for offensive or defensive purposes:

  • Any item that is designed, marketed, intended, possessed, or sold for offensive or defensive purposes will not be allowed. (Expandable batons, nightsticks, mace, pepper spray, bear spray, tasers, flails/maces, brass knuckles, smoke grenades, flashbangs, etc.)

Dangerous and destructive devices:

  • Any “dud” or “de milled” items must be obvious: no primer, no charging system, substantial inspection port, etc.
  • Destructive devices are not allowed (grenades, mortars, cannons, flamethrowers, rocket propelled grenades, bombs, mines, rockets, missiles, primers, detonation cord, firing caps, warheads, thermobaric/nuclear devices, etc.)
